Alcohol suspected in deadly wrong-way crash on I-75 ramp in Detroit

1 person killed, 2 others injured in crash

DETROIT – A wrong-way driver crashed head-on into a semi-truck about 4 a.m. Friday on the southbound I-75 ramp to the Ambassador Bridge, Michigan State Police said.

Three males, including the driver, were inside the SUV. The front-seat passenger was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver and rear-seat passenger were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The semi-truck driver was not injured.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. Michigan State Police are investigating. 

The I-75 ramp to the Ambassador Bridge was closed for hours during the crash investigation, but reopened at about 8:30 a.m.
