Ypsilanti man charged in death of 2-year-old girl

YPSILANTI, Mich. – A 39-year-old Ypsilanti man has been charged in the death of a 2-year-old girl, who died last December.

Authorities say Anthony Williams is accused of drinking over a half-gallon of vodka before falling asleep and rolling over onto his toddler daughter, causing her to suffocate.

Williams is not the biological father of the girl, but gained custody after the mother of the girl died of cancer when she was an infant.

Williams has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse. His family insists this was just a tragic accident.
