RIVER ROUGE, Mich. - Two small poodle mixes were rescued by the River Rouge Animal Shelter after it learned they had been kept outside all night in the freezing cold weather.

They survived because they were able to squeeze through a barricade to the underside of a porch. Sadly, the third dog, chained in the back yard, did not survive.

The dogs have been taken to the River Rouge Animal Shelter and from there to PAWS of Michigan.

Local 4 has also learned that the owners of the dogs, who were not present during the rescue, will be charged with animal cruelty and neglect.
