Purina Cat Show is launching a new effort to fight feline obesity.

It's launched the "Why Weight" program asking cat owners to take one minute to see if their kitty is at a healthy weight.

More than half the household cats in the United States are overweight, according to the Association For Pet Obesity Prevention.

You can go online to see if your favorite feline is tipping the scales. Then, you can take the Why Weight pledge.

If 100,000 people pledge to watch their cats' weight, it will generate a $50,000 donation to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention.
