Threesome Tryst? McGreevey, Wife Disagree

Dina Matos McGreevey Denies Allegations

The New York City tabloids, fresh off a week of scandalous revelations about former Gov. Eliot Spitzer's alleged involvement with a high-prced prostitute ring, have now turned their attention to former New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey.

McGreevey was governor of New Jersey from 2002 to 2004. He resigned after admitting to an extramarital affair with a male employee. He had made his homosexuality public earlier that year, becoming, at the time, the only openly gay governor in United States history.

On Monday, a former driver and McGreevey aide told the New York Post that his one-time boss's former wife, Dina Matos McGreevey, was in denial over what she called false claims that the couple engaged in three-way sex. McGreevey confirmed Teddy Pedersen’s account on Monday

In interviews posted online Sunday night by The Star-Ledger of Newark and the Post, Teddy Pedersen said he had consensual sex with the couple for about two years before McGreevey became governor. He said he had contact only with Dina Matos McGreevey during the trysts, and wasn't sure whether McGreevey was gay.

"If Dina wants to take a lie detector test with me, I will sit down with her any time, any place. The only reason that I spoke to the media is because she dragged me into her divorce," Pederson told the Post Monday.

In an e-mail to The Associated Press, McGreevey said he and his estranged wife need to move forward for the sake of their 6-year-old daughter.

"This happened, this happened in the past, and now we need to move on with our lives," McGreevey, 50, said without being specific.

The McGreeveys are in the midst of an acrimonious divorce. She accuses him of hiding his homosexuality before and during their marriage and has sued for damages. He has said she should have known he was gay.
