Winter Blast To Kick Off

DETROIT -- The 2008 Winter Blast is set to kick off this weekend.
It runs from Feb. 8-10 in downtown Detroit in Campius Martius park.
The hours are Friday, Feb 8 from 11 a.m. -midnight, Saturday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m.- midnight and Sunday, Feb 10 from 10 a.m.-midnight.
There will be three
stages set up for live music throughout the weekend.
Winter Blast will include the Pure Winter Experience, sponsored by MGM Grand Detroit. It includes a 200-foot snow slide, dog sledding exhibitions, snowboarding exhibitions, and snowshoeing.
Blast goers will get a taste of Detroit under The Chrysler Jeep Dodge Taste of Detroit Tent with 20 restaurants participating, including Opus One, Detroit Beer Co, River's Edge Grill, Mountain Jack's and Sizz'l-n-Spice.
There will be many other activities such as ice sculptures, the Marshmallow Roasting Brazarios, comfort zones and a film festival.
Winter Blast is fun for the entire family. The Meijer Family Fun Zone includes tons of activities from magic shows, puppet shows to karaoke.
