Free Hair Color Offered For Job-Hunting Women

Hair For Success Event Taking Place On Monday Only

Women trying to make a great impression at a job interview know appearance matters. That is why tng worldwide and Kemon teamed up with 30 local salons to provide free color service on Monday June 15 to women on the job hunt.

Hair for Success is a one-day program that aims to help women look their best for their job search and interviews, whether they are seeking a new job, a promotion or simply looking to feel personally successful.

“If they look good, they feel better about themselves and we really want them to get out into the marketplace and be employed and be successful,” said Larry Gaynor, CEO and president of tng worldwide.

Gaynor convinced local salons to donate their time, talent and services for the Hair For Success event, while tng worldwide is supplying the Kemon coloring product that stylists will be using on the women. It is one of the most sought after color products in the industry. Gaynor expects to help 2,000 women during Monday’s event by giving away about $100,000 in professional color treatments.

“All the salons will be using the Kemon color and when they walk out their hair is going to feel shinier, healthier. It actually smells good when it's being applied and it's going to last five to six weeks. So they're going to be excited just about their hair color,” said Gaynor

Lisa Sommers is one of the women who hoped to benefit from the free hair color service. She has been out of work for nearly a year and that has really taken a toll on Lisa’s personal life. “I am unfortunately losing my condo, like so many others are,” said Sommers.

Sommers is grateful her long-time stylist Andy Bernard, who owns Andrew Marke Salon in Macomb township along with two other locations, called her to take advantage of Hair For Success. Bernard has been doing Sommers’ hair for 28 years.

“If your hair doesn't look good you have no confidence. You don't want to be self conscious, interviews make you nervous enough,” said Sommers.

Women wishing to take advantage of Hair For Success must make an appointment for Monday. The salons will be providing the free color service between noon and 5 p.m. only.
