Vegas Q&A: What's Being Built At Caesars?
Updated: 10:41 a.m. EDT September 8, 2003
Question: We were in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and were wondering what's going on in front of the Forum Shops mall at Caesars Palace. There's a bunch of construction, and it makes it a real pain to get in and out.
Mary in Houston
Answer: They've got the front of the place pretty well torn up as they work on yet another addition, which will add over 250,000 square feet of new retail, restaurant, and entertainment space. The plans call for a three-story courtyard entrance right along the Strip that, once open, will bring folks inside the mall -- and, by extension, Caesars -- more easily.
No announcement yet on who the new tenants will be, but you can figure it will mostly be high-end retailers -- clothiers, jewelry and the like. The competition for the new space will probably be tough: the Forum Shops reportedly make more money per square foot than any other mall in the country.
The expansion is scheduled to open sometime late next year.
Until then, you're just going to have to deal with the construction, I'm afraid. They do have a temporary walkway that comes from the end of the mall (near where the old entrance used to be) and meanders out to the Strip.
