ATLANTA -- LSU's head football coach Les Miles cleared up any confusion about his future Saturday.
ClickOn Soundoff: Do you believe Les Miles?"I am the head coach at LSU. I will be the head coach at LSU. I have no interest in talking to anybody else," an angry Miles said at a news conference.
Miles said an erroneous ESPN report that he was going to Michigan prompted him to speak to his players and the media. He said it was "unfortunate" that he had to talk to his team about it Saturday morning.
LSU's athletic director Skip Bertman announced before Miles' new conference that the school and the coach worked out a deal to keep Miles with the Tigers.
"Coach Miles and the chancellor have already worked out a contract that they're happy with, but it hasn't been signed yet," Bertman said.
Miles' current salary at LSU is $1.8 million.
Bertman's announcement came less than three hours before the No. 5 Tigers played No. 14 Tennessee in the Southeastern Conference championship game.
Miles was considered to be Michigan's top candidate to replace Lloyd Carr, who announced his resignation at the end of the Wolverines' regular season. LSU gave Michigan permission this week to speak with Miles about the job opening.
The 54-year-old coach played for Michigan under Bo Schembecher.
