Report: Rogers Ruled To Repay Lions

POSTED: Friday, October 10, 2008

(Sports Network) - Former Detroit wide receiver Charles Rogers will reportedly need to repay the Lions millions of dollars, after the franchise won a grievance against the player.

Citing Lions chief operating officer Tom Lewand, a report on mlive.com -- the website for a chain of Michigan newspapers -- Wednesday stated that Rogers must repay the team around $8.5 million.

The Lions had filed the grievance arguing that Rogers, the second overall selection in the 2003 NFL Draft, was in default of his contract after being suspended by the NFL in 2005 for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

The former Michigan State standout spent three seasons with the Lions, notching 36 career receptions for 440 yards and four touchdowns.
