Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings made it one step closer to winning their third straight Olympic beach volleyball title when they won their semifinal match Tuesday to advance to the final.

May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings defeated China’s Xue Chen and Zhang Xi 22-20, 22-20.

The American duo won Olympic gold in 2004 and 2008. The team took some time off from the sport and even played with different partners after Beijing before rejoining as teammates to make a run for a third-straight gold at the London Games.

In the other women’s semifinal match, Americans April Ross and Jen Kessy took on the top-ranked Brazilian team of Larissa Franca and Juliana Silva. After dropping the first set 15-21, the Americans fought back to win the second 21-19. After trading points in the decisive third set, the Kessy and Ross were able to pull away to win the set 15-12.

The victory sets up an all-American final, which will be played Wednesday.
