The excitement of having five Canadian NHL teams in the Stanley Cup playoffs after a year without any has been suppressed a bit after they all went 0-1 this week.

  • The Montreal Canadiens were shutout by Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers, 2-0;
  • The Boston Bruins topped the Ottawa Senators, 2-1;
  • The Calgary Flames ran out of time against the Anaheim Ducks and suffered a 3-2 loss;
  • Connor McDavid's Edmonton Oilers were badly outshot on their way to a 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks;
  • And the young Toronto Maple Leafs couldn't hold onto a 2-0 lead against the Washington Capitals, who came back to win Game 1 in overtime, 3-2.
