Scotty Anderson, 23, has rejoined the Detroit Lions for the final two weeks of off-season workouts after he and his brother were stabbed outside a Houston nightclub.
Anderson (pictured, left) is starting his third season as a wide receiver. He sustained minor wounds when he was stabbed on May 26.
Police said that it started around 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Crystal Nite Club, in the 6700 block of Southwest Freeway at Hillcroft. Since the club was closing, hundreds of patrons headed outside.
Police told KRPC in Houston that Anderson, his brother, Stevie, and cousin, Carlos Hicks, were leaving the club and ran into people shoving and pushing each other in the parking lot.
Police said that the men were arguing with each other, but two other men thought the comments were directed at them so a fight ensued. Stevie Anderson was stabbed first, officers said, and Scotty Anderson was stabbed when he tried to help him.
Anderson missed all of last week's mini-camp. He said Monday that his recovery is going well. But on his first day back, his activity was limited to watching his teammates from the sidelines.
His brother, Stevie, lost a lot of blood through a severe thigh wound. He's recovered to the point that Scotty Anderson felt comfortable rejoining the team, according to reports.
Stevie Anderson is a former receiver with the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals.
Two men, Christopher Lemar Robinson and Charles Edward Jones, both 30, were later arrested. They face aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges.
Anderson, a two-year veteran out of Grambling State, played in 15 games last season making 25 catches for 322 yards.
