Sims is the No. 17 cornerback in the country and the No. 135 overall player in the class, according to 247 Sports. He is the No. 14 player in Georgia, playing for Westlake High School in Atlanta.

The 16-year-old had scholarship offers from 35 schools, including Ohio State, Michigan State, Maryland, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota and Penn State in the Big Ten. Sims chose Michigan over southern schools that expressed major interest, including Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Florida.

Sims enters a Michigan cornerback unit that is rebounding from the loss of its top three corners to graduation. Jourdan Lewis, Channing Stribling and Jeremy Clark are all hoping to land on NFL rosters this spring.

Jim Harbaugh's 2018 class now features four four-star recruits. Sims joins Emil Ekiyor, Aidan Hutchinson and Otis Reese in the 17th-ranked class in the nation.
