DETROIT -

The Lifting As We Climb Foundation is planning to celebrate the success of 50 Metro Detroit graduating high school seniors that have received full scholarships to college.

Lifting As We Climb, a Detroit based 501c3 charity, said "Celebration of Success" will serve as the perfect example of how a child can succeed with the help of a village.

"This is the first time 50 males have achieved such an accomplishment at a time when only 35% of black males graduate high school in Metro Detroit," the foundation said in a statement. "These young men have achieved success both on and off the field in spite of their circumstances while also being an active participant and mentored in the events held by our organization."

The celebration will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at DTE Energy headquarters in the Time Square Atrium at One Energy Plaza.

Honorees include 12 blue chip athletes.

Business and city leaders will join the foundation, DTE Energy, Forgotten Harvest and the Braylon Edwards Foundation at the event. The young men's achievements will be recognized and clips from their past season will be highlighted.
