Red Wings bounce back against Blackhawks

Detroit goes 1-1 in weekend road games

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings were ready to play Sunday night in Chicago.

The Red Wings (26-14-1) were hungry to grab the Central Division from the Chicago Blackhawsk (24-13-5) who had been sitting in 1st place for the majority of the season.

Thanks to the 3-2 overtime win at the United Center, the Wings and Hawks are now tied with 53 points each.

It was a great way to recover from a shaky showing on Satruday in Toronto where the Maple Leafs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and held on to win 4-3. The Red Wings made a late push that seemed to carry over into Sunday's game.

If not for a hot Vancouver Canucks team (26-13-5), Detroit would be sitting atop the Western Conference.

Next stop for the Red Wings is Tuesday night in New York to take on the basement Islanders.

The Islanders (14-19-6) are all but out of the playoffs again this season. They are 12 points out of 8th place in the Eastern Conference.

The Central Division-leading Red Wings will be seeking their second-straight victory Tuesday night.Â
