Albion women score 14 in pair of wins

Albion beats North Park, 5-1, then demolishes Alverno, 9-0

ALBION, Mich. – Albion junior midfielder Caroline Eagan helped lead her team to victories in both matches this past weekend with a total of 5 goals of her own, including her first career hat-trick in a 5-1 win Friday over North Park.

The first goal of the match against North Park was in the 18th minute by sophomore forward Domenique Sarnecky. The last goal -- to bookend Eagan's hat-trick -- was by sophomore Taylor Schrader in the 71st minute. Eagan earned her second and third goals within 23 seconds of each other in the 58th minute -- both unassisted.

The Albion Britons netted another 9 goals in the match against Alverno on Saturday. Sophomore goalkeeper Cameron Schmidt earned the shutout. The Brits continued their impressive display of attack while holding strong defensively and ended up coming close to matching their total season goals from 2013 in just one weekend.

Eagan scored twice against Alverno -- one in the 17th with an assist by Sam Larocca and the second unassisted in the 24th. Sarneckey once again got the action started for the Brits in the 15th minute.

Sarnecky wasn't finished. She found the net again after Eagan's brace in the 27th with an assist by Jenna Urso, who also found herself on the scoreboard with a goal in the 64th.

Sophomore midfielder Lauren Cross ended the night with a brace, too. He goals came in the 30th and the 62nd, which was assisted by Sarnecky. Kayla Paquette added her touch by assisting in Urso's goal as well as netting her own in the 83rd with an assist by Maddie Minardi.

Albion will have another full weekend. They play at Illinois Tech at 9 p.m. Friday the return home to play Transylvania at noon Sunday.
