Veteran Red Wings winger Alfredsson out with upper-body injury

DETROIT – Daniel Alfredsson won't be in the lineup Tuesday night when the Detroit Red Wings host the Boston Bruins for Game 3 of their opening round series.

Preview: Bruins ready for another physical, 'nasty' game

The 41-year-old winger is suffering from an upper-body injury. Joakim Andersson will join Detroit's lineup in Alfredsson's absence.

It's not clear what Alfredsson's specific injury is, but it could be a back injury which he has been dealing with all season.

Andersson appeared in 65 games with the Red Wings this season, notching 8 goals and 9 assists. The 25-year-old native of Sweden played in 14 playoff games with Detroit last year, tallying a goal and 4 assists.
