Miguel Cabrera hits home run No. 400

Cabrera with most HR by Venezuelan born player

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Miguel Cabrera blasted career home run No. 400 in the first inning Saturday off of Cardinals starter Tyler Lyons.

The shot to center field gives Cabrera the most home runs ever for a Venezuelan born player. He passed Andres Galarraga, a Venezuelan who hit 399 homers, to take over the lead.

Cabrera also passed Tigers great Al Kaline, who finished with 399 career home runs. Cabrera has hit 262 of his home runs as a member of the Tigers, tying him with Willie Horton for fourth in franchise history.

His home run gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead over the Cardinals. It was also his fourth homer in his last three games, after he hit two on Thursday against the Twins and another Friday night in St. Louis.
