Tigers sign deal with Jordan Zimmermann

DETROIT – The Tigers have signed right-hander Jordan Zimmermann.

The deal is expected to be for five years and roughly $110 million. The deal is presumably pending a physical examination.

"Jordan is a durable pitcher who pounds the strike zone and attacks the hitter on every pitch," said Tigers GM Al Avila. "He's a top of the rotation type talent we've been targeting this offseason."

Zimmermann, 29, has spent the last seven seasons with the Washington Nationals. He went 13-10 with a 3.66 ERA in 33 starts this past season.

In seven seasons at the major league level with the Washington Nationals, Zimmermann has made 178 starts and has a career record of 70-50 with a 3.32 ERA (1094.0IP/403ER) and 903 strikeouts.
