Detroit Pistons win season opener in first game at Little Caesars Arena

Pistons top Charlotte Hornets 102-90 in Downtown Detroit

DETROIT – The Detroit Pistons had no trouble settling into their new digs as they knocked off the Charlotte Hornets to win their first regular-season game at Little Caesars Arena in Downtown Detroit.

Professional basketball returned to the city Wednesday night with the Pistons topping the Hornets 102-90.

The excitement hit fans the moment they stepped foot into the new arena. They're pumped to have their Pistons back downtown.

"I'm just happy it's back in Detroit," a fan said. "I'm a big fan of Andre Drummond, and now I can see a lot more games."

The new LCA got the seal of approval, and fans were just as pleased to see some of the old favorites.

"It's a beautiful day," one man said. "The city is going crazy. It's electrified. It doesn't get any better than this."

"He's back, the dancer," one fan said.

Shannon Sailes, the dancing usher who's known to keep the arena rocking, made his move to the stands of the Pistons' new home.

The Pistons touted, "We're back" all night as a new season and a new era got underway.

"It's great to have them home," a fan said.

Hometown celebrities didn't miss out on the occasion. Rapper Eminem made a surprise appearance, and Kid Rock was sitting in baseline seats. Even NBA Commissioner Adam Silver visited Motown to see the first game at LCA.
