With the 2014 Olympic Torch Relay nearing its conclusion at Friday's Opening Ceremony in Sochi, Russia, take a look at some of the famous names who have carried the torch over the years.

Alex Ovechkin, captain of the NHL's Washington Capitals and a member of the Russian ice hockey team, carries the Olympic torch as it begins its journey from Greece to Sochi, Russia, on Sept. 29, 2013. The torch was lit in ancient Olympia and then headed off on the longest torch relay for any Winter Games, including a trip to space.
