2015 ClickOnDetroit NFL mock draft

Here we go: the 2015 ClickOnDetroit NFL Mock Draft is ready.

Obviously there will be trades come Thursday, but it is absolutely impossible to predict trades, so this mock draft will go straight through the first round with no trades. I will however highlight spots in the draft that you could expect a trade to be made.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the clock.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jameis Winston, QB, FSU
This is all but a sure thing, Winston is the best pure passer in this years draft class, Tampa needs a franchise Quarterback, Jameis Winston will have hit shot to be just that for the Bucs.

2. Tennessee Titans – Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
Marcus Mariota will be selected second overall in this years draft. The question is what team will be making this pick. The Chargers, Browns, Jets, and Eagles all have interest in Mariota.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars – Leonard Williams, DT, USC
Williams is the top defensive player in this years draft class. He is a truly disruptive force on the inside. He is quick enough to rush the passer, and strong enough to stuff the run.

4. Oakland Raiders – Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
No brainer for the Raiders here. Cooper is the most polished receiver to come out of college since A.J. Green. The Raiders desperately need a number once WR.

5. Washington Redskins – Dante Fowler, OLB, Florida
Washington will look to replace Brian Orakpo, and Fowler has this skill set to do just that. Fowler is this years best pass rusher.

6. New York Jets – Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa
Versatility is key when you talk about Scherff, he can play tackle or guard in the NFL. The Jets would rather have Mariota here, but if they cant move up to land the quarterback, Scherff will do just fine.

7. Chicago Bears – Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
The Bears will have a lot of options to replace Brandon Marshall in this years draft. White's explosive skill set will pair nicely with Alshon Jeffrey. Plus, Jay Cutler needs all the help he can get.

8. Atlanta Falcons – Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
Here is the first surprise of the draft. Gurley is the best running back prospect in years. ACL injuries are not what they used to be, I do not this there is that much of a risk taking Gurley this high. This is a need position for the Falcons.

9. New York Giants – Vic Beasley, OLB/DE, Clemson
The Giants love depth on the D-Line, Beasley is the best available pass rusher left at this point.

10. St. Louis Rams – DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
The Rams were hoping that Tavon Austin would blossom into a number one receiver, but he has shown that he is no more than a slot receiver. Defense is not the issue for the Rams, Parker gives new quarterback Nick Foles a consistent option.

11. Minnesota Vikings – Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
This pick is looking more and more like a sure thing. The Vikings have a big need at the corner position, and Waynes is by far the most talented secondary player in this years draft.

12. Cleveland Browns – Bud Dupree, DE, Kentucky
Remember, there is a good chance that the Browns will not be making a pick here as they are big players in the Mariota sweepstakes. If they stay put with their 2 first round picks, I can see the Browns going best available. Dupree has the talent to play multiple positions for the Browns Defense.

13. New Orleans Saints – Danny Shelton, DT, Washington
Leonard Williams may get all the publicity, but Danny Shelton is not that far behind the USC big man. The Saints always need help on defense, Shelton can make a impact early on.

14. Miami Dolphins – Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami
The Dolphins need to replace Mike Wallace, they wont have to look very far in University of Miami product Phillip Dorsett. His speed will stretch the field for a Dolphins offense that is in need of more big plays.

15. San Francisco 49ers – Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest
The 49ers have quickly gone from one of the most talented rosters in the NFL to a roster with glaring weaknesses across the board. Johnson has the skill to help clean up a below average secondary last year for San Fran.

16. Houston Texans – Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Oklahoma
With Andre Johnson leaving for Indianapolis, the Texans can look to replace him in a very deep WR class. I think they Texans could also look to drop back a few spots and still land a WR while picking up extra picks.
17. San Diego Chargers – Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
As mentioned earlier, there is a good chance this pick will belong to the Tennessee Titans as part of a Mariota deal. However, if the Chargers stay put, Gordon is an obvious choice for them. They need to get better running the ball, and Gordon is coming off of one of the best rushing season the NCAA has ever seen.

18. Kansas City Chiefs – Landon Collins, SS, Alabama
With Eric Berry's football future in jeopardy, the Chiefs will find his fill in with Collins. A tackling machine in the secondary, Collins will fit in perfectly with the Chiefs aggressive defense.

19. Cleveland Browns – Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami
Joe Thomas has been the best Left Tackle in football for the last 5 years. The Browns have never really added another solid lineman to play with Thomas, Flowers will probably move to the inside and play Guard in the NFL. Pure strength, he is made for run blocking.

20. Philadelphia Eagles – Arik Armstead, DE, Oregon
Most expect Chip Kelly to cap off his crazy offseason with one last trade to get his old Quarterback Marcus Mariota, I tend to agree with that. If he sticks with pick 20, why not take the best available Oregon Duck. Armstead is rising fast on many teams boards, so if he falls to Chip he will pull the trigger.

21. Cincinnati Bengals – Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
Another fast riser, Peat is a guy many Lions fans hope will be on the board at 23. The Bengals need to sure up their line, Peat can step in and start day one.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers – Byron Jones, CB, Connecticut
The Steelers would rather have Landon Collins here to replace Troy, but they will take any and all help they can get for their depleted secondary. Jones is the best of what's left.

23. Detroit Lions – Malcom Brown, DT, Texas
With Suh gone the Lions have to address their interior D-line at some point in the draft. I think if Gordon or Gurley are still on the board that Martin Mayhew will go ahead and give Matthew Stafford another weapon to play with. But if they are both gone, along with Peat and Flowers, Malcom Brown becomes the safest pick at a need position. Brown is a big, nasty power player that the Lions need.

24. Arizona Cardinals – Randy Gregory, DE, Nebraska
Gregory has top 15 talent, but a lot of questions about his character will have him fall in the draft. The Cardinals are a good enough team to use this pick on a risk player.

25. Carolina Panthers – D.J. Humphries, OT, Florida
The Panthers need to keep Cam Newton on his feet, to do that, they need to sure up a weak O-line.

26. Baltimore Ravens – Shane Ray, DE, Missouri
Much like Gregory, Ray has the talent, but he has a red flag attached to his name as well. The Ravens have the leadership in place to keep a guy like Ray in check.

27. Dallas Cowboys – Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
The Cowboys surprised a lot of people with how well they played on Defense last year. There is still room for improvement, so look for the Cowboys to address defense with their top 2 or 3 picks.

28. Denver Broncos – Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon
Denver will only go as far as Peyton Manning can take them. With that in mind, they need to sure up a O-line that look shaky at times against blitzing defenses.

29. Indianapolis Colts – Eddie Goldman, DT, Florida State
Offense is not the problem for the Colts, its their inability to stop the run that kills them in the postseason. Goldman is a big run stopping lineman that will go a long way in helping that defense.

30. Green Bay Packers – Shaq Thompson, OLB, Washington
The packers may have the most complete roster in the NFL, so they could take a page out of the Patriots playbook and trade back into the second round so a team with more pressing needs can land a player that they covet.

31. New Orleans Saints – Breshad Perriman, WR, UCF
Loosing Jimmy Graham will hurt the Saints offense so at some point in the draft they will have to find a new target for Drew Brees. With no Tight End prospect good enough for a first round pick, The son of former Detroit Lion Brett Perriman, Breshad is the best available offense weapon.

32. New England Patriots – Cameron Erving, C, Florida State
The Pats love versatility, and Erving is not only the best prospect at the Center position, but he can also move to guard if needed. Seems like a good fit for the defending Super Bowl Champs.
