DETROIT -

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson does not stand alone on the cover of "Madden 13."

EA Sports revealed the video game's official cover on Tuesday with the Renaissance Center and Ford Field playing supporting roles next to a reception-ready Johnson.

Johnson won the online voting competition as a No. 6 seed. He had to defeat No. 1 seed Carolina quarterback Cam Newton. Johnson received 52 percent of the votes in the final.

His honor has left Lions fans with mixed emotions. There is a running stigma that the player on the cover of this iconic video game will run into some bad luck.

Players on the cover have fallen victim to injuries in the past.

Johnson said he doesn't believe in any curse surrounding the Madden video game cover.
