SALINE, Mich. -

A judge has sentenced Michigan running back Fitzgerald Toussaint to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, pay fines and undergo random substance abuse for his drunken driving conviction.

The junior was arrested in July after running a red light and found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.12 percent. That's well above the 0.08 percent level that's considered drunk under Michigan law.

Toussaint pleaded guilty Aug. 28, and Saline District Judge Kirk Tabbey sentenced him Tuesday.

The judge has ordered Toussaint to attend 10 AA meetings, pay $1,488 in fines and costs, abstain from drugs and alcohol and be subject to random drug and alcohol tests for 90 days.

Toussaint ran for more than 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns last season. He's made 81 carries for 283 yards this season.
