DETROIT – Michigan State's Kirk Cousins is the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award winner.
The award is chosen by a nationwide vote from division I football coaches, football media and fans. It is given annually to the most outstanding senior student athlete in the NCAA's Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.

To be eligible for the award, a student athlete must be a senior and have "notable achievements" in four areas including community, classroom, character and competition.
Cousins has a 3.7 grade point average and graduated this year with a degree in kinesiology. He is a four-time Academic All Big Ten selection. He is the second player to serve as captain for three years in Michigan State's football program's more than 100-year history.
He also is the winningest quarterback in the program's history.
Cousins is active in the Lansing-area community. He frequently volunteers at the pediatric ward at Sparrow Hospital.
