EAST LANSING, Mich. -

Super Bowl-winning linebacker Carl Banks and ex-basketball star Shawn Respert are among six Spartan greats selected to enter Michigan State's Athletics Hall of Fame.

The school announced Friday that the Class of 2012 consists of Banks, Respert, golfer Emily Bastel, football and track star Clinton Jones, three-sport athlete Diane Spoelstra and longtime men's gymnastics coach George Szypula (zuh-POOH'-luh).

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set for Sept. 20, and the Hall of Famers are to be recognized during the Michigan State-Eastern Michigan football game at Spartan Stadium two days later.

The MSU Athletics Hall of Fame is located in the Clara Bell Smith Student-Athlete Academic Center.

It features plaques of the 108 inductees. The charter class of 30 former Spartan student-athletes, coaches and administrators was inducted in 1992.
