Detroit Lions sign former Saints fullback Jed Collins

Collins is first fullback on Lions roster since 2010

DETROIT – For the first time since 2010, the Lions have a fullback.

Jed Collins, who spent the last three season in New Orleans, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Lions. Collins reunites with former Saints offensive coach Joe Lombardi, who is now the Lions offensive coordinator.

Collins rarely got his hands on the ball in New Orleans, but he was occasionally effective as a receiver out of the backfield. His primary job will be to block, and if he does that well, Reggie Bush and Joique Bell will benefit.
