Michigan among pre-season favorites to win national championship

Las Vegas gives the Wolverines the second-best odds to win it all

Michigan football is relevant again.

Led by coach Jim Harbaugh, the Wolverines are on the pre-season shortlist of national title contenders. Las Vegas casinos are giving the them the second-best odds to win a national title this season.

Here's the odds that have Wolverines fans excited:

The actual numbers vary, but Michigan ranges from a 7/1 to 12/1 favorite to win college football's national title this season. Some sports books only have the Wolverines behind Alabama as the favorites, though Clemson, Ohio State and LSU are also getting attention.

Michigan players are downplaying the attention, even as Harbaugh pushes the program onto the national stage with a series of satellite recruiting camps, attention-grabbing cameos, and a 10-win season to build on.

As for the Spartans, they're on the outside of the national title picture, according to odds. They're roughly a 30/1 favorite after making the college football playoffs in 2016.
