Game 2 notes:

1st period: 

The Red Wings started with Pavel Datsyuk centering Johan Franzen and Justin Abdelkader. They got a couple good chances early in front of Tuukka Rask. 

1:31 -- Bruins' Shawn Thornton gets called for holding. The Red Wings get the first power play of the game. 

The power play was cut short when Tomas Tatar was called for taking down Zdeno Chara. The Bruins went on their own power play for 1:49. 

The teams went back to even strength without any goals. 

7:28 -- BOSTON GOAL -- Jimmy Howard gave the puck away and the Bruins' Justin Florek put it in the open net. Bruins lead 1-0. 

8:15 -- Jakub Kindl goes to the box for interference. Boston goes on the power play. 

9:54 -- Danny DeKeyser gets called for slashing. The Bruins get a 21 second 5-on-3 power play. 

10:35 -- BOSTON GOAL -- The Bruins take advantage of the power play and make it 2-0. Reilly Smith got behind Howard to slam home a loose puck. 

12:00 -- Red WIngs' Brendan Smith went to the dressing room after taking a hard hit. He returned to the Wings' bench a few minutes later. 

The period ended with Boston up 2-0, but not before it got real scrappy. Smith tried to square off with Chara. Both were assessed roughing minors. 

2nd period: 

The teams started the period 4-on-4. 

Niklas Kronwall put a big hit on Reilly Smith in front of the team benches. 

5:11 -- Loui Eriksson gets called for hooking Daniel Alfredsson. The Red Wings went on the power play. The Bruins kill it off as the Red Wings couldn't get much going with the man advantage.

The Red Wings got some of their better scoring chances of the game just before the 10 minute mark of the period. A couple shots were blocked in front of Rask.

10:55 -- Good pressure from the Wings resulted in a penalty against the Bruins. Detroit goes on the power play again as Kevan Miller goes to the box for cross checking. 

The Red Wings again failed to score on the power play. 

13:20 -- DETROIT GOAL -- Luke Glendening gets credit for the goal after a shot from Darren Helm rebounded and hit Glendening in the hand, then went into the net. It's 2-1 Boston. 

15:22 -- Red Wings go back on the power play as Dougie Hamilton gets called for tripping Datsyuk. The Bruins kill it off. 

18:16 -- BOSTON GOAL -- Milan Lucic gets one by Howard to make it 3-1. 

The period ends 3-1 Boston. Shots are 23 for Detroit and 24 for Boston.

3rd period: 

2:10 -- Kyle Quincey gets called for roughing, putting the Bruins on the power play. 

2:27 -- BOSTON GOAL -- Chara scores on the power play. He put back a rebound, right through Howard's legs. It's 4-1. 

6:35 -- Shots are even at 28.

Detroit pulled Howard for an extra attacker with just more than 3 minutes to go in regulation, but he went back in before the game ended.Â
