Meet MWGA's Pat Shelton

Pat Shelton has been promoting the Michigan Women's Golf Association since 1994, for many years as the NEWSLINX newsletter editor and most recently as publicity director.

Shelton primarily writes and disseminates media releases, a natural extension of work she did while assistant corporate secretary responsible for shareholder communications with a large, national automotive parts manufacturing company.

When that firm merged, she joined a small graphic design house as a writer, editor and proofreader before retiring in 2009.

In addition to the MWGA, Shelton volunteers with the City of Farmington Downtown Development Authority as editor of The Main St. Messenger newsletter and a member of the DDA Main Street Organization Committee. She also is chair and a writing member of the Farmington DDA Press Corps, responsible for reporting the good news and events in downtown Farmington.

A Farmington, Mich., resident for more than 25 years, Shelton was born and raised in northwest Detroit. She didn't start golfing until in her late twenties.

Although a high-handicapper, she still loves playing, competing and the camaraderie the game provides.
