DETROIT – "A women's golf association and a teaching golf pro --- what better association to assist members in improving their game," stated MWGA President Barbara Porter when announcing the new affiliation between the MWGA and Bob Krause.
Krause spent nine years playing on numerous professional tours around the United States as well as participating in the PGA Tour Qualifying School. Because of his experience, he saw the need for world-class golf instruction in the metro Detroit area so returned home to do just that.

He affords the opportunity to experience the difference between taking a lesson and receiving customized golf instruction. Krause accomplishes this by offering instruction at Fieldstone Golf Course in Auburn Hills, Lyon Oaks Golf Course in South Lyon and at the all-weather Pure Impact Golf Studio in Commerce Township, where Bob provides year-around instruction.
"My goal is to promote a professional but fun atmosphere to teach and learn the game of golf. The best lesson you can receive is one that you can play with," says Krause, so his motto at Bob Krause Golf is ‘Lessons you can play with!'
Membership in the MWGA is available to amateur female golfers of all ages and skill levels --- from students in high school and college to experienced, super senior golfers and women in between. In addition, MWGA members may sponsor a male for membership, allowing an avenue by which to obtain a USGA Index. An association membership is also offered to organizations and businesses wishing to support and receive information from the MWGA, which was established in 1986 and presently has over 200 members.
The MWGA provides a variety of golf competitions, rules and skills seminars as well as a match play league. Since 2005, with the support of the LPGA and USGA, the MWGA, a 501(c)(3) organization, has provided a Girls Golf Program through which Metro Detroit girls receive professional golf instruction, use of golf clubs, on-course playing time and healthy snacks, all at a nominal fee. Scholarships are available in the program.
