For first time in 17 years, NHL will hold expansion draft

DETROIT – The 2017 NHL Expansion Draft will take place this week. 

The league began conducting the draft Sunday and it lasted through Tuesday. The Las Vegas Golden Knights will announce their selections during the NHL Awards ceremony, which is 8 p.m. Wednesday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The NHL Expansion Draft results will be revealed on NBC Sports Network in the U.S. and on Sportsnet in Canada.

On Sunday, the NHL released every team's list of protected and unprotected players.
