Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey is in Finland.

The team announced Monday that Quincey has been called to join Team Canada at the IIHF World Championship in Finland.

Quincey replaces defenseman Marc-Edward Vlasic was lost for the rest of the tournament with a knee injury. H

Quincey is a native of Kitchener, Ontario. He made his international play debut Monday against France.

Quincey was drafted in the 4th round, 132nd overall by the Red Wings in 2003.

He left Detroit after being claimed off waivers in 2008 by the Los Angeles Kings. He played 72 games with the Kings in 2008-2009 before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche.

Quincey spent two full seasons in Colorado where he became known as a tough defenseman. The Red Wings picked him up at the 2012 trade deadline. He was traded to Tampa Bay briefly before Detroit picked him up in exchange for a 2012 first round draft pick and minor leaguer Sebastian Piche.
