Ex-Whalers Wilson, Carrick back in town with Capitals

DETROIT – Two former Plymouth Whalers will be at Joe Louis Arena Friday night when the Washington Capitals visit the Detroit Red Wings.

Tom Wilson and Connor Carrick played for the Whalers last season and made the jump to the National Hockey League with Washington this season.

Carrick was selected 137th overall by the Capitals in the 5th round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 14 games with the Capitals this season, notching a goal and 2 assists. He's also played 13 games for Washington's AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears.

Washington took Wilson in the 1st round, 16th overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 53 games with the Capitals this season, notching a goal and 5 assists. He played three games in the 2013 playoffs with the Caps.

The game starts at 7:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the current Whalers host the Kingston Frontenacs at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Compuware Arena.
