DETROIT – Jimmy Howard was sensational Saturday night as he turned away 44 of 45 shots to help the Detroit Red Wings beat the Los Angeles Kings, 3-1, at the Staples Center.

However, as things have gone this season for Detroit, bad news came after the game as coach Mike Babcock told reporters Howard suffered an injury and won't start Sunday night in Anaheim.

According to multiple reports, Babcock said Petr Mrazek will get the start against the Ducks because Howard suffered a hip flexor. It's not clear how serious his injury is. He will still dress and back up Mrazek.

Mrazek is 1-2-0 with a 1.74 GAA and .914 SV% in three starts and five appearances.

The Red Wings and Ducks faceoff at 8 p.m. Sunday. This is the third game of a four-game western road trip for the Wings in which they are 2-1.
