Red Wings top Maple Leafs, 3-0, in preseason

Petr Mrazek makes 27 saves for shutout

DETROIT – Defenseman Nick Jensen's goal midway through the 2nd period held up as the winner Monday night for the Detroit Red Wings as they beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-0, in a preseason home game.

Jensen's shot from the point hit a Toronto player on its way to the back of the net. Riley Sheahan made it 2-0 at 5:45 in the 3rd when he slammed home a rebound, and Tomas Jurco wrapped it up with an empty net goal.

Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek earned the shutout as Detroit was outshot 27-17. Mrazek made some dazzling saves to keep the Leafs off the scoreboard.

There were quite a few penalties in this one -- 19 to be exact -- including a 5 minute major and game misconduct to Detroit's Tomas Nosek for hitting Toronto's Stuart Percy from behind. Percy went head first into the board's but was OK.

Here's what remains on the Red Wings' preseason schedule:
