Red Wings-Lightning Game 5: 5 players to watch

Game 5 is 6 p.m. Saturday in Tampa (TV: NBCSN)

The Detroit Red Wings were about 5 minutes from taking a 3-1 series lead Thursday night when the Tampa Bay Lightning's Palat-Johnson-Kucherov line struck.

As one of the NHL's most dangerous scoring lines all season, led by 24-year-old Tyler Johnson, coach Jon Cooper was not surprised.

"Those guys took the game over in the last 5 minutes," said Cooper. "And it just seemed on the bench guys were never down. Even when it was 2-0 and we weren't getting many chances, it was a really positive vibe on the bench."

Johnson scored the winner at 2:25 into overtime, sending the series back to Tampa tied at 2-2.

Here are five players to watch out for during Saturday's game:

1. Petr Mrazek

The Red Wings' rookie goalie has been solid in his first NHL playoff series. He earned a shutout in Game 3 and, again, was just minutes away from earning another one in Game 4. Overall, in four games Mrazek has a .922 save percentage and 2.43 goals against average. He can still be the difference in this series.

2. Henrik Zetterberg

Zetterberg has 118 points in 129 career playoff games. He has two assists in this series but the Red Wings will need more from their captain the deeper this goes. He's been the go-to player on this team for nearly a decade. It's crucial for Detroit that he steps up now.

3. Ben Bishop

This has been a rather forgettable series for the Lightning goalie. He saw just 14 shots in Game 1, three of which found the back of the net. Bishop (.902 SV%, 2.01 GAA) was the victim of horrible puck-luck Thursday night. He saved Joakim Andersson's shot, then the puck fluttered and Bishop swung at it, sending it toward his own gaping net. The puck hit the crossbar, fell to the ice (it may have touched Bishop's stick blade yet again) and flipped passed the goal line.

Adding to the mayhem, Bishop was assessed two penalties in Game 4. One was a holding penalty. He basically bear-hugged Detroit's Tomas Tatar just outside his crease. The other was a questionable tripping call.

It will be interesting to see how he performs in Game 5.

4. Gustav Nyquist

Nyquist scored his first playoff goal since 2013 on Thursday. Detroit hasn't scored more than three goals in a game this series. That's not going to be good enough if the Lightning, one of the NHL's top scoring teams, gets their snipers (Steven Stamkos) going. Nyquist will have to start creating more chances for himself and his teammates.

5. Tyler Johnson

Johnson has solidified himself as the most dangerous player in this series to this point. Give him an inch and the puck is in the back of the net. He has four goals and an assist. Red Wings coach Mike Babcock has worked to keep Johnson's chances slim by throwing the ever-responsible Luke Glendening at him. Glendening left Game 4 with a hand injury (cut), seemingly opening the door for Johnson, who took full advantage of the opportunity.

The diminutive center has been instrumental in Tampa's two wins.

Glendening will be back for Game 5.

Game 6 is Monday back in Detroit.
