The use of marijuana by players in the National Football League may be higher than fans and league officials realize.
Despite a league crackdown this year on the drug, there are reports that as many as 80 percent of players smoke marijuana.
The report comes from the New York Post. In a separate interview, retired player Eben Briton said he played several games after using marijuana and insisted the "NFL games I played stoned were some of the best games I ever played."
The New York Post story quotes former players, agents, and coaches who say that pot-smoking is more of a widespread practice than many initially believed.
Some say that the health benefits of cannabis should compel the league to lift its ban.
