Michigan falls to Wisconsin, 71-60, in Big Ten quarterfinals

CHICAGO – The Michigan Wolverines' Big Ten Tournament run came to an end Friday with a 71-60 loss to the No. 1 seed Wisconsin Badgers.

Zak Irvin led Michigan with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Ricky Doyle added 12 points on perfect 6-6 shooting.

Wisconsin was paced by forward Sam Dekker, who scored 17 points. Big Ten Player of the Year Frank Kaminsky scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

The Wolverines didn't shoot a free throw until over 39 minutes and 30 seconds into the game. Wisconsin was called for only five fouls during the game.

An Irvin three-point jumper with 6:09 left tied the game at 54 apiece, but Michigan just couldn't hold off Wisconsin, which used free throws down the stretch to pick up the 11-point victory.

Michigan's record fell to 16-16 after the loss.
