Peppers is the only finalist who played primarily on defense this season -- making 66 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and three sacks. He also caught his first career interception in Michigan's last regular-season game against Ohio State.

Since his arrival in Ann Arbor, Peppers has been one of the best punt returners in the country. This season, he returned 21 punts for an average of 14.8 yards, scoring one touchdown. He also returned 10 kickoffs for 260 yards.

Offensively, Peppers took on an increased role as a junior. In 27 carries, he picked up 167 yards and three touchdowns.

Peppers is looking to become the four Michigan player to win the Heisman Trophy behind Tom Harmon (1940), Desmond Howard (1991) and Charles Woodson (1997).

Peppers is the first Michigan player to travel to New York as a Heisman finalist since running back Chris Perry in 2003.
