Bonderman returns to Tigers, called up from Triple-A Toledo

Tigers swap Bonderman for Evan Reed

DETROIT, Mich. – The Detroit Tigers have announced Jeremy Bonderman is being called up from Triple-A Toledo to join the team for their series with the Cleveland Indians.

The news, coming after the Tigers 3-2 win over the Chicago White Sox, puts the 30-year-old right-hander in a Tigers uniform for the first time since 2010.

Bonderman made his debut for the Tigers in 2003. He signed with the Mud Hens on July 14 after being released by the Seattle Mariners. Bonderman has pitched 9 2/3 innings for Toledo over seven games, allowing no runs, no walks, three hits and five strikeouts.

Also, the Tigers have sent down right-hand reliever Evan Reed to Toledo.

The Tigers begin a four-game series with the Indians on Monday night.
