DETROIT - Does it matter that Detroit Tigers pitcher Al Alburquerque kissed the ball Sunday before making the final throw that would lead his team to a 5-4 victory over the Oakland Athletics?
Alburquerque went into the game to replace Phil Coke at the top of the ninth with two outs and the score tied at 4-4.
Yoenis Cespedes was up to bat and hit a grounder that went back to the mound and was gloved by Alburquerque.
Before he threw it to Prince Fielder at first base for the out, he kissed it.
