Max Scherzer is 1st person in 104 years to open season with 11 victories

DETROIT – Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer became the first person in 104 years to open the season with 11 victories as the Tigers destroyed the Boston Red Sox 10-3 Saturday night in front of a packed house at Comerica Park.

Scherzer tied George Mullins' start to the 1909 season for the franchise record. The pitcher will tell you, his focus on the mound is not breaking individual records.
