NBA free agency: Detroit Pistons interested in Thomas, Ariza

Several teams showing interest in Pistons C Greg Monroe

DETROIT – NBA free agency kicked off to a relatively quiet start today, but not without some juicy rumors concerning your Detroit Pistons.

First off, according to NBA/NBC writer Aaron Bruski, the Pistons have laid out an offer to Isaiah Thomas, free agent point guard from Sacramento. The deal is reportedly for $8 million and three years, which happens to be the same deal Brandon Jennings signed just last year. Some signs point to a possible sign-and-trade deal between the Pistons and Kings, but we'll have to wait and see.

Secondly, according to Alex Kennedy, Washington Wizards forward Trevor Ariza is receiving interest from several teams, including the Pistons. Ariza previously played for Stan Van Gundy with the Orlando Magic in 2005, but after only 11 games, he was traded to the Lakers. There are some big contenders vying for Ariza, including Houston, Dallas and the Clippers.

Lastly, Greg Monroe's value seems to be on the rise. The restricted free agent is getting heavy interest from the Magic, Blazers, Hawks and Pelicans, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. Portland is the most serious contender for a sign-and-trade deal, which would allow the Pistons to get something in return for Monroe.

NOON UPDATE: According to Vincent Goodwill, the Pistons are expected to meet with Pelicans G Anthony Morrow. Morrow led the NBA in 3-point shooting last year.
