Lions fall to Cardinals 25-21 on the road

4th quarter lead wiped away in the final minutes

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Detroit Lions lost their first game of the season on Sunday to the Arizona Cardinals 25-21.

Rashard Mendenhall scored a one-yard touchdown with 2:03 remaining to put the Cardinals ahead 25-21 in the fourth quarter.

The Lions' ensuing drive ended with a turnover on downs, handing the win to the Cardinals.

Matthew Stafford finished the game 24-36 for 278 yards and 2 TDs. Calvin Johnson caught 6 passes for 116 yards and 2 TDs. Joique Bell ran 8 times for 31 yards on the ground.

The Lions are now 1-1 on the season and travel to Washington next weekend to face the Redskins at 1 p.m.
