DETROIT - hThe Detroit Lions will release wide receiver Nate Burleson and safety Louis Delmas, according to Lions writer Tim Twentyman.
Burleson joined the Lions in 2010, but since, has been plagued by injuries. Most notably, when he crashed his car, and broke his arm while reaching for a pizza this past year. The incident caused him to miss 7 games. In 2011, Burleson caught 73 passes for 757 yards. According to the report, Burleson still plans to play in 2014.
Delmas was drafted by the Lions from Western Michigan in 2009. Last year, the Lions re-signed Delmas to a two-year deal worth $9.4 million.
Delmas was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate in 2010 and 2011, but struggled with injuries during his Lions career. Other reports indicate the Lions would be willing to bring Delmas back at a reduced rate, but also note that Delmas plans to test the market.24466138
