Red Wings sign forward Pulkkinen to entry-level deal

Red Wings sign 2010 draft pick, Pulkkinen, to 3-year entry-level contract

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings announced Tuesday that the team signed Teemu Pulkkinen to a three-year entrey-level contract.

Pulkkinen, 20, of Finland, is a winger and goal scorer who has spent the past two season with the Helsinki Jokers of the SM-liiga.

He scored 16 goals 21 assists in 56 games with the Jokers this past season.

Pulkkinen was a fourth-round pick of Detroit's in 2010.

He becomes the second Finnish-born player to be drafted by the Red Wings. Valtteri Filppula was the first when he was selected in the third round of the 2002 draft.

The Red Wings said Pukkinen will play with the Jokers next season.
