American marathoner Davila pulls out of race after 2 miles

DETROIT – An American marathoner who had been training in Michigan for the London Olympics had to pull out of the race this weekend due to an injury.

Desiree Davila had been training with the Hansons Running in Michigan. She holds the American record at the Boston Marathon and was a high medal candidate in London.

The 29-year-old runner left the course after 2.2 miles due to pain in her right hip and groin.

The injury has been a problem for her for several weeks.
