The United States men's hockey team beat Russia 3-2 on its home turf in Sochi Saturday morning in the eighth round of overtime.
T.J. Oshie scored four times in the shootout for the USA, and his eighth-round winner stunned the Sochi crowd. Oshie took six of his team's shootout attempts, because the same player is allowed to take multiple shots in international hockey.
USA's Cam Fowler scored his team's first goal on a power play in the second period to tie the score at 1-1. Joe Pavelski added the second American goal on another power play midway through the third period.
Russia was led by none other than the Detroit Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk, who scored both regulation goals for his country. The captain converted one of his three attempts in the shootout.
The win over Russia was the second game for the USA, which beat Slovakia 7-1 on Thursday.
